Therapy Focuses

Occupational therapy practitioners work with children, youth, their families, caregivers, and teachers to promote active participation in activities or occupations that are meaningful to them.  Building Blocks Therapy, Inc. contracts with school districts to provide occupational therapy services that promote children’s increased participation in school.  We also provide occupational therapy services in client's natural environment, such as their home or daycare. In our classes at Basecamp, we work on a variety of skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Skills we might work on in OT include:

Fine Motor

Involves analysis and improvement of small muscle movements and use of fingers.

Baby Eating Food

Feeding 

Improving oral motor skills and sensory tolerance to increase the number of foods and volume of food eaten.

Visual Motor 

Improving how the eyes and hands work together.

Kid Playing with Bubble

Self Regulation

Involves learning how to set goals and being able to monitor one's self to maintain an appropriate level of alertness for the activity at hand.

Getting Dressed

Activities of Daily Living 

Utilizing teaching strategies and adaptive equipment as needed, we can help improve independence in activities of daily living (ex. bathing, dressing, meal preparation, etc.).

Social Interactions 

Helping kids learn how to initiate and sustain interaction with peers and adults.  

Building a Robot

Executive Functioning 

Provide strategies to improve working memory, flexible thinking, and self-control.

Sensory

Involving the coordination of the two sides of the body, hearing, seeing, feeling, and moving to perform necessary tasks.  Our team is educated on a variety of evidence based  and strategies to improve sensory processing difficulties in children.
